Parish Painting Group

Each Monday morning a group of people collect together between 9 and 10 for a couple of hours or more of drawing and painting. At present we are preparing for our fifth exhibition in just under two years. Our topic this time is to work like old masters in copying famous pictures, or creating new work in their style. We already have a few original Pissaros and Van Goghs floating around. We do not take ourselves too seriously but in a very relaxed atmosphere some very good paintings are materialising, we have every right to feel proud and many of us did not hold a brush since our days at school.

During each morning there are periods of complete silence, moments of shared laughter and many minutes of quietly shared joys and troubles. At the moment we have 19 members; some come each week and one or two drop in from time to time. We have room for more if you care to join us; we always have spare materials for those first visits. You do not have to buy anything until you become hooked, then you will love to visit The Range.

We meet at the hall of St. John Payne where the doors open soon after nine; our official time is 10am till 12 noon. Early risers help to set out the tables and make coffee, yes coffee is served on and off all morning. Please feel free to come along, you can be sure of a warm welcome.
